Homework #7

I think it is a smart idea to redesign a logo by using less ink. Not only is it smart, it is very cost efficient for printing ink. For example, Starbucks has there logo on every single cup. They are using so much ink for just a little 12 oz cup. When they used the redesigned logo it only used 38% less ink which overall saved about 4,000 gallons of ink a year. Printing ink is also not the cheapest thing so that alone will help save not only the environment but also our wallets.

Homework #6

This article was very interesting and horrific to me. Although, Neil Stansfield made a crime of replacing another company brand and putting on his brand on the product and selling it, it taught me a lesson about branding. I learned that you should add your name or initials in your work so that no one can steal your idea if you have your name on it. It's like when you get a new basketball and you don't want anybody to take it so you right your last name on the ball.

movie plot

My movie poster project title will be called "Panic at the Picnic". This movie starts out with a big thunder and lighting storm in the area. The setting of the movie is taken place in the summer time. Therefore, all bugs and insects are out flying around. But this one night, thunder was booming and a lighting strike hit a telephone pole that electrocuted all the ants near the telephone pole. The electrocution made the ants grow in size. When the storm passes, all the humans start to wake up and get ready for the day. The one family that the movie shows during the movie, go out and enjoy the nice sunny day at the park. When they walk up they realize something is not right. They realize that there are no bugs or insects around. The main character sees a huge ant the size of half a football field walking around a big sandwich. When the main character tries to walk up to the ant, the ant realizes that prey is coming to kill. So the ant runs at the main character and main character will look like he is running away from the huge ant. That is what my movie poster will be about.

Homework #5

In this article, Dustin Stanton started out as being a drifter and production artist at one of the biggest companies in the area. He gets inspired by all the posters through the hallways he walks by everyday for work. Once he saw all these amazing posters he knew he could make one of his own one day. When Dustin suggested to take a beautiful picture of a magnolia flower and he used that instead. I can relate to Dustin because when I worked on photoshop with my first project, all my other classmates had different layouts which were more creative then mine. But now by seeing them it encourage me to get better at photoshop.

Homework #4

When I read the article "Everyone is altered", I learned that Photoshop and digital beauty is very critical on the television and movie screen. I think it is cool that the characters you see in the movies look very different from when you see the celebrity on the red carpet. It sounds insane when a studio executive spends from $500 to $2500 on just one photo! That would make me happy if I got that much for taking a quick shot of a famous actor. I want to visit Hollywood one day or visit a Hollywood set to experience how digital beauty gets put into the works on to the big screen.

Homework #3

The article "Nike's chief of design doodles all day" was a very interesting read. I am very familiar with Nike because I am a athlete and I have about thirty Nike shoes on my shoe rack. I would be so lucky if I got to be in designer John Hoke's shoes to experience working for Nike. Just the thought of being able to sketch a shoe that could possibly be sitting on the shelves in malls and being able to wear them would be a dream come true. I used to be obsessed with buying shoes so this article is something I really was looking forward to read and learn to work with a big company like Nike.

Homework #2

Niels Diffrient ted talk was a very inspirational story. His creativeness in design advanced him to make a great design and advanced chair that you could sit in. He designed the chair so it could recline to your extent and the structure of the chair made it so that our tailbone and spine can have the best comfortable experience. And the adjustable headrest makes the chair look comfy and when you recline the chair, the headrest rises up so that it can reach the neck.

Homework #1

The how to ruin a great design article was a very interesting read. I didn't think that bad signs were made frequently until I read this article. What I also found interesting was that UPS changed their logo into a very basic one as of now. I work at UPS so that was new information that I didn't know about my job before.
